MY VACATION SO FAR.

THIS IS THE THIRD DAY OF VACATION AT CHERRY GROVE AND ALL HAS FELL INTO PLACE WONDERFULLY SO FAR. i WAS BEGINNING TO WONDER IF I WOULD EVER GET BACK TO ENJOY CHERRY GROVE. IT HAS BEEN A FRUSTRATING WINTER, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT.
THE WEEATHER HAS BEEN STORMY BUT AT NIGHT AND EARLY MORNING.i HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO MY RUNS AND WALKING ON SCHEDULE AND IT FAIRS OFF BY NOON AND THE AFTERNOONS HAVE BEEN VERY WARM AND BRIGHT ,GOOD FOR TANNING, AND PLEASANT EVENINGS. I AMA LONE WOLF,NOT NECESSARILY BY CHOICE. BUT I DO HAVE TIME TO REFLECT AND THINK HOW LUCKY I AM TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE SURROUNDINGS. THE POOL DECK IS SO WHITE AND THE WATER IS SO CLEAN AND BLUE, JUST ME AND THE TWO DUCKS TO ENJOY IT. THEY FLY INTO THE POOL EVERY ONCE AND A WHILE AND CAVORT AROUND IN THE WATER, GET OUT AND REST A WHILE. NEVER MIND THE MESS THEY ARE LEAVING BEHIND. I BASK IN THE SUN AND LOAROUND ,THAT TREE IS BIGGER THAN THE LAST TIME I SAW IT. THERE IS NO CROWD HERE ALL THIS LUXURY AND I GET TO ENJOY BY MY SELF. THE LAND SCAPERS ARE BUSY TRIMMING THE LAWNS AND CLEANNING THE STREETS .EVERY THING IS SO NEAT AND CLEAN, ALL THIS LUXURY JUST FOR ME.--I AM DOING WELL IN MY WALKING AND RUNNING. I FEEL I WILL BE IN GOOD SWHAPE FOR THE CHURCH RUN NEXT SATURDAY. MAYBE THERE IS SOME THING TO BE SAID FOR THE GOLDEN YEARS AFTER ALL.
AND THE TURTLE INCIDENT,,QUITE A CO INCIDENCE THAT HE RETURNED RON SUGGESTED MAYBE A NEST NEAR BY. SO BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR BABY TURTLES THIS SUMMER.
THE SKY IS CLOUDING UP NOW BUT I AM OPTMISTIC EXPECTING A GOOD P M TOMORROW..

MY GOOD DEED FOR TODAY

THIS AFTERNOON AS I WAS SITTING IN THE THE SUN ON THE FRONT PORCH, I SAW A TURTLE, A GOOD SIZED ONE, COME CRAWLING UP THE SIDEWALK AT FAIRWAY OAKS.HE STOPPED ,STUCK HIS HEAD STRAIGHT UP AND KEPT IT POINTED UPWARD FOR A FEW MINUTES... THEN HE MADE A 90 DEGREE TURN AND WENT ACROSS THE STREET TO HOUSE NO,48. HE TRIED AND TRIED TO GET UP THE CURB BUT JUST COULD NOT MAKE IT. I THOUGHT HE WAS LOST AND STUCK HIS HEAD UP IN THE AIR. TO FIND THE NEAREST WATER.
I WALKED OVER TO HIM AND AS SOON AS HE SENSED MY PRESENCE HE PULLED HIS HEAD AND HIS LEGS INTO HIS SHELL AND JUST CLOSED UP.
SO I PICKED HIM UP AND SET HIM DOWN ON THE YARD OF HOUSE NO 48 AND RETURNED ACROSS THE STREET. AFTER A FEW MINUTES HE OPENED HIS SHELL AND BEGAN TO MOVE AGAIN. HE CONTINUED STRAIGHT AHEAD TO THE POND ABOUT 100 FEET AHEAD.
I'M SURE THAT WAS WHERE HE WANTED TO GO.
I HOPE HE REMEMBERS MY KIND DEED. I ALSO HOPE WE MEET AGAIN.

Another version of the 2009 Cooper River Bridge Run.

after two weeks of enjoying my "Fifteen minutes in The sun" or My glory of First place in My division., I can present my story of the run.
We had a four hour trip to Charlston S.C. and a quick nights sleep , up early and ready for the run at 8;00 am. I agree walking to the bus loading area was a warm up for the race..
Since I am a morning person the walk as enjoyable.being on the bus on the Bridge 200 feet in the air was thrilling especially looking east ward into the sunrise of a clear beautiful day, with delightful tempertures. Getting in line and at the proper place went well. and a short time to calm down was good. When the gun fired , starting the race all sy systems were GO. The earlier walk has warmed me up .and we were off to a good start,
Getting thirty six thousand racers across a bridge in Two hours does call for some crowded conditions and I had to be in crowded spot and took an unfortunate fall.I was quickly helped up by fellow racers. and checked myself over. Just a bunch of skinned knuckles and bruises. So I continuied on My Daughter thought I needed attention. so we approached a National gardsman for first aid. He had no first aid supplies but would call medics. Thats too time consuming.so on we went I wrapped a handkerchief around the scratches. Farther down the bridge we stopped at a water station and tried to cool down the scratches with cold water. Maybe helpful, Shortly mwe came to a first aid station ,they had gauze and tape and they and Marianne got me fixed up .By then my adreinlen had kicked in and when I asked the first aid attendents where to discard the use up handkerchief they pointed to a small pile of trash near by. I was so keyed up I almost ran over the pile of trash in my hurry to get back on the track. We continuied on to the finish line. We enjoyed the fruit and water and went back to the Motel to shower and enjoy the rest of theday.
We did enjoy T Bonz and a trip to the Shopping Market. Then continued on to Cherry Grove And the next day continued on back to our homes.
We did find out by way of the Internet that I was a winner in my division of the Cooper River Bridge Run. I was very Happy// and as I say There is a saying--Every body has their fifteen minutes inthe sun.= That was mine. I have enjoyed it.
But it was not done alone ..I am aware of a lot of support from others..
I am thankful for the support of my family and others.
I have been advised by my Drs to walk, run for health reasons
v My wife has encouraged me to run and keep myself in shape,
Marrianne and Jim have encouraged me to run. Marianne is my Coach. Jenni and Ben have been very Helpful They are both very active Robert And Linda have supported my walking and running activities And David and Terry have been complimentary to my accomplishments .David has running experience also.
My Fifteen Minutes In the Sun was helped by My Close Knit Family Thank You

My last blog I was anticipating Indian Summer, Well we have had about 52 days of Indian summer.I hope Joe Indian had a good harvest and has gathered all his crops in for the approaching winter because it seems winter is here. The weather is colder than usual and we had our first snow yesterday.
I am reviewing my "Weather Wizard Diary" and it has proved to be a very enjoyable time.
Of the 52 days,I have described 41 of them as "beautiful days".To me beautiful is ,pleasant temperature, lot of sunshine especially at sunrise.very little rain .Foggy ,cloudy and very windy, and dismal rain ,is not beautiful.
The fall leaves show was somewhat short .The leaves turned ,quickly the last week of Oct,and peaked about the first week in Nov. The three days,Oct 30,31,and Nov 1 was proably the peak.A few days later we had a cool rainy spell and the leaves fell very quickly, {earlier than usual}
This Indian summer has contributed to the enjoyment of my walk/run each morning. The sun rises around 7 ;00 am thats when I am inthe middle of walking. There has been very little smog in the sky so the sunrise was brilliant. additonally,Grimes Park is located on a former footballfield .and one side is lined with hardswood tree, lots of leaves, and the other side gos through a grove of pine trees.{long needle pines}When the sun risees behind me and shines on the Maple and hardwood trees it isalmost breath taking then on the pine tree side the track is covered witha layer pine needles and the frost on the grass between the two sides ,just sparkles and glistens in the sunshine.-----very enjoyable run----
Since the leaves fell from the trees early and the weather was so nice i have finished the leaf raking chore early this year,
I saw a weather program that stated ,a mature hardwood tree has about 300,000 leaveson it.So I have 20 popular trees and 15 pine trees in my yard.I am glad that is finished
So much for Indian summer it waqs enjoyable - Now we are looking foward to "The Holidays and Winter Then a nice long walk up the beach at low tide about 7;00 am at Cherry Grove.
Good bye S.A.D.

Small Town Excitement

Today in Lexington we had excitement. Anew bridge was opened. A rib0n cutting and honking of horns and the clapping hands of the crowd of attendees and speeches of City officals and Dept of transportation officials and other important people.
The bridge was closed Nov. 1st last year for replacement, It was not safe for all the traffic it had to bear. It was the Center street bridge across the main rail road that serves the eastern section of the country. Center street is just what its name says, "central"to get from one part of town to another you had to cross center street rail road bridge.
So for the past 11 months you can imagine the extra driving it has caused to the people of Lexington. you had to drive an extra mile to get to another bridge across the rail road.I had to cross the tracks every time I went to walk.
So after eleven months the bridge is finaly finished and opened to normal traffic again.
It just so happens that the Bar-be-que festival will occur in two weeks and there will be thousands of visitors and the new bridge will be open for them.
This is better news than National News -Freeway-

Indian Summer.

To start a new blog .you need an interesting subject and i am really pleased with the month of October this year--also known as ,Indian summer, it has been really beautiful in the mornings and the rest of the day has been pleasant temperatures,
Since I like to start the day walking or running the weather pleases me very much.
I am also looking forward to the beautiful colors of the trees and their leaves that October is noted for.
Also October is known as Indian summer probably because the Indians knew they had to have all the food they could ,to last them through the winter ,and this was the last chance to plant and harvest hardy crops as greens and carrots and other root crops.
Lets prepare for winter.
since this is a new blog, if you read me ,let me know that I am on line.
