Small Town Excitement

Today in Lexington we had excitement. Anew bridge was opened. A rib0n cutting and honking of horns and the clapping hands of the crowd of attendees and speeches of City officals and Dept of transportation officials and other important people.
The bridge was closed Nov. 1st last year for replacement, It was not safe for all the traffic it had to bear. It was the Center street bridge across the main rail road that serves the eastern section of the country. Center street is just what its name says, "central"to get from one part of town to another you had to cross center street rail road bridge.
So for the past 11 months you can imagine the extra driving it has caused to the people of Lexington. you had to drive an extra mile to get to another bridge across the rail road.I had to cross the tracks every time I went to walk.
So after eleven months the bridge is finaly finished and opened to normal traffic again.
It just so happens that the Bar-be-que festival will occur in two weeks and there will be thousands of visitors and the new bridge will be open for them.
This is better news than National News -Freeway-
